Let's Talk Supplies for your Ring Bath Bombs
Housing for the Ring(s)
The rings or other pieces of jewelry that you may add to your bath bombs have to be inside some sort of protective material or they could get damaged, specifically the surface or the finish of the rings. We suggest using some sort of small plastic device like a vending capsule.
You can find different sized vending capsules at places like amazon for pretty inexpensive prices for a bulk amount. These capsules are just light enough and sturdy enough to be the perfect place to place your gem, plus because they create almost an air pocket within the bath bomb so they will also help it float.
So obviously the second item you need for your ring bath bomb is the actual jewelry. When making your bath bomb and thinking about what ring to place inside, be mindful of the size of the ring. If you are making these for some sort of party, check out places like Amazon where you can find a wide selection of rings in one large pack.
Bath Bomb Ingredients (Small Batch)
- 1 Cup Baking Soda
- 1/2 Cup Citric Acid
- 1 TBSP Corn Starch
- 1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
- 1 tsp Sweet Almond Oil
- 15-20 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
- 10 Drops Red or Pink Food Coloring
- Spray bottle with 50% water and 50% Alcohol
How to Form your Bath Bomb with Ring and/or Jewelry Inside
Add all the dry ingredients together in a bowl. This includes baking soda, citric acid, corn starch, and cream of tartar, making sure to use the finest of grain you can find for all. Whisk until all lumps are gone.
Add wet ingredients in another small bowl. This includes your sweet almond oil, essential oil(s) and food coloring. Mix these ingredients well.
Formulating your surprise. Add you favorite ring inside of the plastic capsule device. Ensure it is closed tightly.
Now slowing pour in your wet ingredients into your dry, a few drops at a time, making sure to continue to stir or whisk the ingredients well.
e. Mix Well
Once all of your ingredients are mixed together, do a final mix by hand if not already. Rubbing the mixture between your hands a few time.
Tip #1: At this time your mixture will still be fairly dry, however your scent and color should to your liking!
This is the time to start adding a few sprays at a time of your alcohol/water mixture. I like to add 2-3 sprays at a time and then set down the spray bottle to mix. Remember as you add this mixture you need to mix quickly or your baking soda/citric acid will start to fizz and react.
Tip #2: You will know your mixture is perfect when you squeeze it in one hand and the mixture stays together and does not stick to your hands!
g. Start with One Side
Add some mixture to one side of your bath bomb mold about half way. Add the encapsulated jewelry piece and then add more mixture over-top of the capsule until the one side of the mold is overfilled.
Now overfill you other side of the mold as well.
Press together firmly with your hands (good idea to avoid a press machine for these bombs!), don't twist, for about 10 seconds.
Tap all sides of the mold and then pull the top piece of the mold off.
Turn over into your hand and allow the bath bomb to fall into your hand.
Let dry 24 hours on a soft cloth.
And that's how you make bath bombs with rings or bath bombs with other jewelry inside. It's pretty simple once you understand and work with your ingredients to get the right consistency for forming the bath bombs.
