The Art of Making The Cupcake Bath Bomb!
It's easier then you might think to make a cupcake bath bomb. With similar ingredients as most bath bomb recipes you can find here at RN to Zen, cupcake bath bombs differ in the fact you have a few extra steps to add a frosting-like topping.
The frosting topping can be done multiple ways depending on whether your want extra fizz or more of a bubbling effect when placed in water. As with other bath bombs, like the galaxy and donut bath bomb, there are tons of ways to customize your recipe for the desired effect that you are wanting, the sky is the limit. DIY Cupcake Bath Bomb Recipe
Line your cupcake mold. We use the 6 cupcake mold tray for this recipe. Mix all of the dry ingredients for the bath bomb portion together in one bowl. Use a sifter to get out any clumps which may cause issues to your bath bomb down the line, when molding or drying.
Dry ingredients include your baking soda, citric acid, SLSA (this can become airborne quickly so wear a mask for this process, or it may cause you to cough).
Add in your sweet almond oils, fragrance oil, and a colorant (to liking, pink for this cupcake bath bomb) and mix well.
Add sprays of you water and alcohol mix to get it to the consistency you need. You can tell it's the right consistency when your squeeze a handful of mix and it stays together in your hand.
Add your mixture to a silicone or metal cupcake mold with liners. Pack them tightly. It's okay if it overfills the molds slightly due to the adding of frosting later. Set aside.
Tip: Don't add mixture without liners or your will never get the bath bomb out in one piece.
More DIY Bath Bombs:
Now, using a stand mixer or hand mixer add your water and meringue. Start on slow and start to blend. Once you've got a nice blended consistency going, speed up your mixer to medium for about 60 seconds.
Add the rest of your "frosting" ingredients to the bowl, except colorant. This includes your kaolin clay, SLSA, sweet almond oil, fragrance, and powdered sugar.
Start to mix very slowly, stopping periodically and using a spatula to get the mixture off the sides of the bowl and incorporated into the rest of the mix.
Mix 60 seconds on medium speed.
Add your colorant and blend until evenly incorporated, about 30-60 seconds should do it.
Tip: There is no exact science to how stiff or thin you want your frosting, it is up to you. Add more water for a thinner consistency of frosting.
Now configure your frosting tip inside your frosting bag by cutting the end of your bag and sliding the tip through the hole to fit tightly.
Time to add the frosting, load up your bag with frosting mixture and place a zip-tie at the other end of where the tip is, so that way when your squeezing the bag, your frosting doesn't come out the top.
Simply start in the middle of your cupcake bath bomb and pipe in a slow circle outward motion, and then back into the middle to get the frosting to peak.
Allow to dry 24 hours (minimum) prior to use.
Relax & Enjoy!
We hope this 2-step cupcake bath bomb turns out amazing as we are sure it will. Be creative as your want by adding multuple colored frosting, sprinkles, and even using other silicone cupcake molds. Have fun with these, and make sure to share this post across your social media.
